2010 January
Message from the new 2010 APTi President, Jennifer Selby Long
Dear APTi Members:
I’m so glad it’s finally 2010! Never have I heard so many people say they are happy to have a year done and over, but 2009 certainly seems to have been that year. Wallets slammed shut throughout the world as people decided what truly held value for them, and what had just been a waste of money.
That’s one reason I’m delighted to begin by reporting that as other professional and trade associations were forced to cancel their conferences, the APTi Conference proceeded as planned, and provided an absolute high point to my year. Even in penny-pinching times, the lure of Jung’s personality theory and its practical applications continue to draw a multitude of professionals from around the globe. The 2009 conference attendees and presenters hailed from 33 countries.
The APTi Biennial Conference is the leading edge global conference dedicated to practical applications, ethical use of the theory, and cutting-edge research, all within a community of practitioners ranging from the newest enthusiast to seasoned authors, leaders, and consultants.
So why were we so lucky when many other organizations had to cancel their conferences? I believe it is because people go where they are nourished, and APTi provides vital and irreplaceable nourishment for type practitioners. We are here because we love being part of the only global community of its type, because our organization is filled with experienced experts who are generous with their time and counsel, because we offer leading edge information from a wide variety of sources, and because we strive to offer as much value as possible for each and every dollar invested in this organization.
Stay tuned as 2010 unveils unique new training opportunities, a stronger global presence, four jam-packed issues of our sought-after publication, the Bulletin of Psychological Type, and new opportunities and benefits.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the chapter members who have recently joined APTi as Affiliate Members. Also, I want to extend a big thank-you to those hardworking volunteer leaders in the chapters and regions who have helped to manage this transition and continue to provide support to this vital part of our community.
If you’re not in a chapter, will you join one this year? We have on-the-ground chapters who meet in person and our eChapter meets in cyberspace using a webinar format. There is something for everyone.
Our dues will increase slightly this year, to $110 for professional membership, $75 for retirees, and $55 for full-time students. Renew now through February 28, and get your professional membership for $95, your retiree membership for $65, or your full-time student membership for $45.
Regardless of the month when you usually renew, you can take advantage of this offer through February 28 and apply it to your next membership year. To renew now click here to login and then click on "Renew Your Membership."
