In January 2021, we asked APTi members to commit to being part of the movement for a more just society. We asked you to rededicate yourself to reflecting on the role you play in bringing about true and lasting change. Is there a more relevant organization than APTi to champion the constructive use of differences to address our most pressing social challenge?

We are very pleased to bring you this important presentation in a three-hour format to demonstrate how knowledge of psychological type can help create a new normal, post-pandemic, that is based on equity and justice for all.

Understanding Whiteness/Unraveling Racism is an experiential model designed to help turn the lens on the very important and often neglected other side of diversity.  The model provides a non-threatening framework that encourages openness and honesty with the goal of bringing participants to a new consciousness around white identity.  We have a responsibility to seek to understand how we have been socialized to maintain whiteness, keeping separation and racism in place - and then do something about it.  When we do, we contribute to bringing a more inclusive and multicultural reality to our workplaces, our lives, and our world.  

About Laurie Lippin

Laurie B. Lippin, Ph.D. specializes in training, consulting, coaching and teambuilding in the areas of diversity and cultural competence. Laurie holds a Ph.D. in Adult Education and is a UC Davis former faculty, where she taught a popular and award winning diversity class. She co-authored (with Helfand) the 2011 publication of Unraveling Whiteness: Tools for the Journey by Kendall/Hunt. She is a frequent conference presenter, and works with corporate as well as not for profit clients.  Laurie believes that we will not end racism until white people are just as committed to ending it as are people of color.
