Type development usually refers to the development of the functions. That is, bringing the awareness and use of the functions to the conscious level. Tied in with function development is the development of the ego. In this brief moment of time, we will explore a bit of the connection between the
development of functions and development of the ego and expose how the developmental level of these impacts one’s emotional control.

About Elizabeth Murphy, Ph.D.

Elizabeth Murphy is a psychologist who has worked with type concepts since the early 1980s. Her research focuses on verifying with video support the development of normal personality differences according to the theory of psychological type.

Elizabeth completed a three-year course in dream interpretation through the Assisi Institute, a two-year course in depth psychology with the Jung Institute in Chicago, and completed Levels I and II with Dream Tending training. She recently had an article published in the Journal of Analytical Psychology titled “Type
Development in Childhood and Beyond.”

She has INFP preferences.
