In January 2021, we asked APTi members to commit to being part of the mo vement for a more just society. We asked you to rededicate yourself to refl ecting on the role you play in bringing about true and lasting change. Is t here a more relevant organization than APTi to champion the constructive us e of differences to address our most pressing social challenge?
We are very pleased to bring you this important presentation in a three- hour format to demonstrate how knowledge of psychological type can help cre ate a new normal, post-pandemic, that is based on equity and justice for al l.
Race still remains the challenge of the 21st centu ry. White folks wonder why, despite diversity trainings and outreach effort s, interracial interactions are often tense and no matter how hard they try , they can't seem to do anything right. While a Zoom delivery platform wil l be used, this is a highly participatory event for participants to reco gnize together the effects of a socialization that has maintained “whitenes s,” keeping separation and racism in place - and then commit to do somethin g about it.
Understanding Whi teness/Unraveling Racism is an experiential model designed to help tur n the lens on the very important and often neglected other side of diversit y. The model provides a non-threateni ng framework that encourages openness and honesty with the goal of bringing participants to a new consciousness around white identity. We have a resp onsibility to seek to understand how we have been socialized to maintain wh iteness, keeping separation and racism in place - and then do something abo ut it. When we do, we contribute to bringing a more inclusive and multicul tural reality to our workplaces, our lives, and our world.
