Type & Ego Development

Presenter - Angelina Bennett

Monday, July 17 from 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Psychological Type is so useful for helping people gain self-awareness and awareness of others, and theoretically there is a developmental path open to each individual.  But how do we actually identify this developmental path and help ourselves and our clients to travel along it?  In this session, the lens of Ego Development (Loevinger/Cook-Greuter) will be placed over Type to create a developmental system that is both horizontal (informative) and vertical (evolutionary).  Using these theories in combination allows us to see type from a completely new perspective; what each type would look like at different stages of development, how each type may appear when defensive, what each type would need to help them develop.  Additionally, this enhanced model allows type practitioners to tailor the type work that they do with their clients to meet the developmental needs of the individual, and to design development centers for groups that will be meaningful and effective.  The day will combine theory, practice, personal application and client applications.
