You are seeing C. G. Jung here because fascination with Personality Type in the 20st century world began with this one man: Carl Gustav Jung, 1875-1961. A Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist, C. G. Jung is considered the founder of analytical psychology.
Jung’s 1922 volume PSYCHOLOGICAL TYPES began a new branch of psychotherapy. Personality type became a popular movement in the US, based on Jung’s theory and further developed by two Americans, Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers. Their work resulted in an admirable body of knowledge and the first instrument of its type, the MBTI (the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator). Myers dedicated her life to making Jung’s brilliant theory accessible to as many people as she and her books and instrument could reach. Standing on the shoulders of C. G. Jung, Myers planted the seeds that resulted personality type fascinating millions and becoming widely available on the 21st century internet.
